After my Husband’s heart attack in ’03, we learned that you can be fit, but not healthy. So we became vegans on January 1st ’04. Within 18 months he got off all his meds. We attended Dr. Hans Diehl’s month long seminar, “The Coronary Health Improvement Project” which exposed us to a century of international studies, linking the Standard American Diet (animal products and processed foods) to Heart Disease, Cancer, Diabetes, Obesity, Osteoporosis, and auto-immune diseases like Lupus, Arthritis, etc.
My first experience with Raw Vegan food was at the Pure Food & Wine restaurant in New York in ‘05. I felt my palate explode, and my soul dance to the tunes of ***RAW*VEGAN* GOURMET***food. It became my passion.
I experimented with recipes with animal products, and whittled them down to raw, vegan, and found that Less Is More: With less processing and no cooking – you need less salt, garlic and sometimes, no oils. With less processing and no cooking – you get more vitamins, antioxidants, fiber, minerals and flavor.
I enrolled into the Living Light Culinary Arts Institute in ‘06, and started a Raw Food Business, Licious Dishes in ’07 creating Meal Plans, then opened Greens & Vines Raw Vegan Gourmet restaurant in 2012. The “Vines” stands for Wines (Sakes and Beer) that can enhance the dining experience.
We are riding a wave of people looking for tasty whole food, plant-based meals. WE ARE NOW OFFERING DELIVERY DURING RESTAURANT HOURS OF OUR RESTAURANT MENU, AND MEAL PLANS IN THE HONOLULU AREA (Airport to Hawaii Kai). Additional fees for delivery locations outside of the Honolulu Area.
Meal Plan orders are subject to availability since the orders should be called in to Greens & Vines by or before Wednesday, for pick-up or delivery by Friday, (although sometimes we make extra meals).
