Before gaining a reputation for outstanding Thai food, Bangkok Chef had its humble beginnings in 2001 as a small Asian market selling fresh island produce and groceries. One day, a customer caught a whiff of the Thai food being prepared in the back kitchen. Upon learning that the owner’s wife was cooking, the customer asked if she’d be able to purchase the food.
A year later, Bangkok Chef was born. Today, Bangkok Chef has grown from a tiny eatery on Nuuanu Avenue to several restaurants located in Manoa, Iwilei, Nuuanu and Ewa Beach.
At Bangkok Chef, the owners believe some dishes need a hint of spice to be enjoyed, but it’s a common misconception that Thai food needs to be spicy. It depends on the dish! A menu is available for reference and customers are more than welcome to ask about the spiciness level. Their diverse menu allows for an array of tastes—there’s something for everyone.
For the past 12 years, Bangkok Chef has been committed to serving Thai food that’s fresh, simple, and delicious. This commitment is backed by numerous awards from the community like Star-Advertiser’s Hawaii’s Best awards and Honolulu Magazine’s Hale Aina awards. The goal is to bring Thai food into the mainstream of local island cuisine. The vast amount of dishes is sure to please any taste bud!
